Monserate Winery's newest venue: Monte Bella

I'm Very excited to talk about this venue.

I had the opportunity to visit and participate in a styled shoot Monte Bella, Monserate Winery's brand new space in Fallbrook, CA and I have not stopped thinking about it since. I'm always on the hunt for locations that provide texture and depth. This venue has it in abundance. If you're currently in the throes of wedding venue research (you got this, bestie), add this one to your list ASAP.

And here are a few reasons why:

a Little bit about Monserate

If you're not already familiar, Monserate Winery is a stunning wedding destination in northern San Diego County. They were even named California Wedding Day Best Venue of 2026. Picture rolling vineyards, a peaceful lake, and the golden Southern California sunlight that makes everything look like a dream. With a few stunning venues already on the property, Monte Bella is their newest addition, recently opened in May 2026.

It's also one of the biggest yet! It still, somehow, manages to create an incredibly romantic, personal environment. I'm not entirely sure how they've managed this, but I think it could be the stone pillars, the greenery spilling everywhere, or the black iron-framed doors that make you feel like you just walked into a villa in the Italian countryside.

The Ceremony Space

With two different options to choose from, you can't make a wrong choice. The first over space, by the lake, is better for a more intimate reception. Let the sounds of the water carry you away. The second ceremony option is for your larger events. Stone pillars frame the space, with light coverage from a large gazebo. This space gives you a perfect view of the vineyard and lake. It's the kind of backdrop that doesn't even make me regret overshooting a roll of film.

The Greenery (So Much Gorgeous Greenery)

The venue's landscape has been thoughtfully designed with layers and texture. We're talking sweeping vineyard views, a serene pond, climbing greenery, and florals tucked into every corner. At my last visit, I kept finding these little moments any and everywhere: the lily pads blooming on the lake, vines trailing up a stone wall, the tucked away courtyard for a private moment, and the roses growing throughout. These are the kind of details that make a gallery feel rich and full of life.

The Light

The light, agh! The reception space's high ceilings and tall glass windows, combined with the open courtyard mean you get beautiful, natural light all day long. Inside feels soft and warm. As the afternoon moves toward the vineyard side of the property, the light shifts into that golden, glowing warmth photographers dream about.

Is Monte Bella Right for You?

This venue can host up to 250 guests without ever losing that intimate, romantic feel. It might just be the sweet spot you've been looking for if you:

- Are drawn to European, Italian villa, or garden-inspired vibes

- Love the idea of stone, iron, glass, and warm wood as your backdrop

- Are looking for panoramic vineyard and lake views behind your vows

- Want a venue that handles a lot in-house (getting ready suites, catering, and bar packages are all on-site!)

Why I Love This Property as a Photographer

I had heard great things about Monserate before the shoot, but nothing quite prepared me for actually being there. The whole estate is absolutely stunning, and Monte Bella is no exception. This place looked incredible on both film AND digital (and, not to mention my drone!). I had so much fun editing the digital shots and scrolling through my film scans.

I take a documentary approach to your day. I'll never manufacture moments just for an image. I'm just there with you while your day unfolds. A venue this beautiful makes this easy.
